The History behind Shepherds Huts

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the shepherd's hut was introduced so that
the shepherd could tend his flock during lambing season.
He was on call day and night, the hut to him was his home , he ate, slept, in the hut.,He also brought in any orphaned or sickly lambs, which he would put under his bed, and although helped the lambs , actually helped keep him warm and cosy with the extra heat from the animals

These huts were used throughout England and Wales and all had a
basic design of a curved corrugated iron roof ,stable door and
windows on each side.

Inside was simply a bed, medical supplies for his flock , a small cast iron stove., which was used to cook on and for warmth
